Let us help the parishes of your diocese start and sustain successful Bible study programs. With our Informational and Enrichment Workshops, parishes benefit from our years of experience through hands-on learning.
Little Rock Scripture Study remains popular because it is simple to use and highly effective. The program's methods and materials fit the ways adults learn best in daily personal study and prayer, in weekly small group faith-sharing, and in wrap-up lectures.
With a workshop, your parishes will get individual time with "the experts"; make connections with other interested parishes; and experience diocesan support.
Our workshops offer a combination of theory and practice. They're informative, practical, and centered around participation.
"The Little Rock Scripture Study Workshops have been invaluable for my efforts in two different dioceses to raise awareness with parishes of one of the best Catholic Scripture study resources in the world. Long after the fad Bible studies have passed by, Little Rock has steadily provided and updated well-seasoned Scripture studies that not only inform but also spiritually sustain our Catholic population." Dan McGill Executive Director Pastoral Ministries Division Archdiocese of Santa Fe Catholic Center "Two years ago, St Patrick's Parish Markham of the Archdiocese of Toronto, began to make preparations for the Informational and Enrichment Workshops (September 2009) offered by Cackie Upchurch and Sr Susan McCarthy. We had a sense that several parishes that had years of promoting the LRSS program would be on board for an enrichment session. We were not so sure how many parishes would be interested in getting to know the program through the informational workshop. Having obtained permission of the Archdiocese, and using their communications vehicles, using our parish fax machine and emails from parish websites, the response was overwhelming. 244 people signed up! (It helped that our Archbishop Thomas Collins has a doctorate in Scripture Studies and is always a promoter of Scripture Studies!)
The good news is that at least 10 parishes that I know of personally, began from scratch within 6 months to a year, using the training programs of LRSS that was demonstrated at the information workshops. From all reports they are thriving with gratifying responses from parishioners who are hungering for pedagogy in the Word of God, a missing part of their early catechesis.
Our own parish is now in the sixth year of the program and usually attracts about 2/3 returnees and 1/3 new participants, as we make a special effort to attract newcomers. I unconditionally recommend the workshops! Paul M Howard, Coordinator of the Little Rock Scripture Study, St Patrick's of Markham, Ontario
